Writing stuff down

Yesterday I discovered librarything.com and was adding a lot of my books to it. Plan to do some more today. Also decided I really need to finish reading a lot of my books that I’ve left hanging. Currently trying to finish the 2nd Frankenstein book since a friend loaned it to me, and a William Slater book that shouldn’t take to long to finish, The Last Universe.

I started playing Paper Mario for the Wii again on Friday.

I had this huge urge to go to Barnes and Noble, and if I had a car I would have just drove over there. Right now I’m thinking of going to Auntie’s bookstore because it’s downtown where the buses stop and wouldn’t take such a huge chunk of my day to go there, plus I could stop at the tea shop downtown too.

Not that I should be buying books I have tons of books to read. But I want to go look. I also decided to order some books I want to try from the library.

I really need to get some cleaning today, already vacuumed and started the dishes, need to get back to the dishes and also need to start laundry.

Started this amazon order just so I can get Oolong tea and then you have to add out stuff so you get free shipping….still working on it

The reason why I suddenly need Oolong tea is Safeway changed the recipe in my favorite iced tea – Oolong peach, and I’m really disappointed. It used to taste fresh brewed and now it tastes very different, probably it’s made from a concentrated powder now. It’s not worth spending my money on, that is for sure. And it used to be so good ūüė¶

I watched a couple of episodes of Dominion last week and enjoyed them, but far as I know that’s all that was available on SyFy’s website, so I guess I have to wait awhile for Netflix. (hopefully). I want to try have to have time today to watch something on Netflix, maybe The Fosters or an episode of Pretty Little Liars.

That is my motto and motivation today, to train my brain! To have better habits! I just tried to meditate just now and my mind was going a mile a minute, which is unusual for me. Too many things on my mind today, so going to write some of it out.

A lot of it is work related, and my job is very stressful, and my need to relax and unwind at home has become my excuse to procrastinate on other things – like getting the dishes done, doing other important things. I think I do need to allow myself some me time but I want to change how I do it.

Also I was really tempted to have a stiff drink – Hard Mikes – haha – after work to numb myself from the emotional stress and strain from the day, and I’m not an alcoholic, never have been one, but I still felt the need to direct my desire for peace of mind in another direction, and I’m glad I stuck with it. I’m going to try do mantras, meditation, and more quiet time and less addicting internet time (Youtube I need to stay away from you right now!)

I’m not the cleanest person, but I’m not the messiest either. If you walk into my apartment you won’t think you’re in an episode of Hoarders! But for years my excuse to procrastinate on cleaning at home was that I cleaned other people’s homes all day long for a living, and at home, I needed a break from it, which was true. But I don’t do that for a living anymore and now my excuse is my job is hard, I must rest. Which is true, but really, I can handle some cleaning unless I’m extremely drained from my day. I need to make myself do it more often so I can realize it’s not so bad. Also need to try not reacting to how awful my mind is making that chore look (I have this same problem with shaving my legs and no I don’t ¬†leave them hairy)

I’m addicted to fun and entertainment, and I have LOTS of entertaining things to do. LOTS. So I feel the need to put things into perspective, allow myself some wind down time but also some responsible adult time. I hope I’m not just saying this and will go back to my regularly slacking off!

I’m glad to say I actually achieved of the few things I wanted to achieve tonight, not all of them but some, and the night is short! Wish it was longer. I will go back to those dishes now and get ready for bed.

Yesterday mammogram went well! Lots of squeezing of my boobs but they didn’t hurt afterwards. They also did ultrasounds on them, and told me what was in my right breast was most likely a fibroadenoma. They didn’t sound alarmed at all. That’s all I needed to hear! It’s harmless. I’m still getting a needle biopsy in August. The only thing that concerns me is what they found in the left breast, something way in the back, they said it could be a cyst but not sure so they are getting that checked with the needle biopsy too.

After my appointment yesterday I went to the rose garden and walked around, also went into the conservatory and looked at all the plants. Then I went to my favorite Thai¬†restaurant¬†on my way down the hill and ordered Pad Pak, my favorite meal from them. It’s SOOOO good. I took it home and started watching Six Feet Under while eating. I still have one more episode to watch before I can return the disc.

I really need to get some cleaning done today, and also hoping to write a little as well.

Last night J came home from shopping and showed me his new clothes he bought at thrift stores. He got some nice polo shirts and plaid shirts and a couple of t-shirts – I liked the one with the wings on it.

Tuesday, still no car

I thought I was going to get the car back last night, but it wasn’t ready, they said in the morning, well it wasn’t ready in the morning or the rest of the day, even though they said I’d have it back this afternoon. Oh well, I really just want to get to the library and get my new books. Also I missed meditation class again. I fully intended to go if I had my car.

I made my goal of cleaning up clutter for a half hour today. I did it during an episode of Hoarders. I was proud of myself, it was tempting to just get on the computer and goof off, but I did that first (now I’m goofing off, and playing Rune Factory 3 again)

This morning I watched the E3 livestream at 9am – it was a bunch of new Nintendo reveals, including the console which will be called the Wii U. Like I said on twitter, it sounds like a university. The controller is HUGE looks like a little white TV in your hand. ¬†I’m thinking it will feel extremely strange, having my hands that far apart holding something that bulky while I play.

But the video conferencing thing looks really cool. I could conference with my nieces and nephews. And the HD graphics look really good. They showed the simulation of a bird flying and the view between branches as it landed, it was highly detailed and realistic.  I loved the blossoms that suddenly bloomed all at once on all the trees!

I’m really excited now too to try the Kid Icarus game on the Nintendo 3DS, it looks really cool, especially the Medusa boss. And Mario Kart! The cars will make jumps and hang gliders pop out! And they drive underwater too (which makes no sense). Sigh, so many cool games coming out. I need a job. Here’s my MUST HAVE LIST when they eventually come out:

  1. Paper Mario for 3DS
  2. Zelda for Wii or Wii U
  3. Kid Icarus
  4. Etrian Odyssey!!
  5. Mario Kart for both
And probably Professor Layton too. I was so¬†psyched¬†to see Etrian Odyssey on the list of upcoming 3DS games! Yes!! I’m craving a EO game again and might have to replay one of them.
Today I played some of Rune Factory 3. And watched Six Feet Under, the ep where David picks up a hitchhiker – that was really hard to watch. I just wanted David’s bad day to end! It was pretty much the entire episode.
Watching Hoarders too. I’m still not sure why I watch it when it drives me crazy. Especially when they insist on going thru every bag and box before the stuff can be thrown out. UGH! Although I’m starting to see it a different way, one lady who really insisted on that, said she felt a lot of things had been taken away from her in her life. Still, having to go thru bags and bags of garbage, that’s a bit much. I’d say trust the people who already put the stuff in the bag. Trash is trash.
When I moved from my last apt. to here, I was overwhelmed by how much stuff was in my basement storage shed. We dragged it all upstairs to the living room and it covered the entire room. At first we were going thru some of the boxes, but eventually there were several where I said, “give it to Goodwill” without even looking through it. It takes too much time and energy in my opinion to look through stuff you haven’t used for years anyway.
Oh and yesterday, I believe I did work on my sad vid for a little while.

Monday post 1- Recent stuff I’ve done

By CubaGallery at Flickr

Wow I’m suddenly getting a lot more views on my blog. Not sure why, maybe because I started letting people find it with search engines? Anyway if anyone is really reading this, WELCOME!

I was up till 2am last night goofing off, looking at fandomsecrets at lj, looking at themes here at WordPress, looking at free chapters at amazon. Ergh, I want to stop wasting time but it’s so hard when I have the freedom to do so. Don’t have to be up at a certain time of the morning. The freedom of the day is such a temptating¬†elixir¬†to me as well. I could be more structured, but I think I have adult attention deficit disorder or something, I have trouble staying focused on one thing for too long, and flit around doing activities, and recreational activities usually win.

Anyway, this weekend was Nashcon in Nashville. Meaning there was a Supernatural convention, and I was on twitter a lot. On Saturday morning, I didn’t have plans to get on twitter till the afternoon, and then Finny sent me an email at FB (lol not a problem btw Finny if you read this) saying that Jared Padalecki (I had to search and make sure I spell that right) who plays Sam on SPN now has a twitter. It has been a long, ongoing thing that both Jensen and Jared did NOT have a twitter. As in it was repeated to us more than once because there are FAKE Jensen and Jared’s on twitter. Anyway, the REAL Jared is @jarpad. I like how it’s nice and short to type. He wasn’t able to use his full name, like @mishacollins, because Jared’s full name was taken, along with his name with 1 & 2 behind it!

So I had to get on twitter that morning to check it out. Ended up staying on twitter for quite awhile. LOL. I was there for Jensen & Jared’s panel and got to read all the tweets of the Q & A’s as they were happening because a lot of ppl tweeted at the con.

I believe I did do the dishes Saturday. Pat called and had J go over for some gardening. I went for a walk after that, it was a beautiful day. I had uploaded a particular library book to my MP3 player, but once on the walk realized I had uploaded tracks from the second disc, not the first, so settled for listening to a Tami Hoag novel I had already but the story bores me so I eventually shut it off.

I walked to this nearby park and past the Hobbit houses. I wondered how many people would be impressed that we have Hobbit type houses in our town. I thought about taking pictures and posting online, but felt it would be an invasion of privacy. I walked past some lilacs and got to smell them.

I sat in the park for awhile, daydreaming of being somewhere in the US & also Vancouver. Someplace with more exciting, landscaped parks. I wondered what it was like to live in certain places.

I went to the store and got raisins for some cookies I haven’t made yet. We’re doing good sticking to our grocery goal, but I’m starting to wish J would pitch in a little more towards the grocery fund. I might bring it up to him.

I watched Bizarre Foods and Dresden files. Saturday I went to bed kinda early, read library books in bed. I think most of the library books I have now I will return without finishing. I want to like them, but they aren’t gripping me. One is a fantasy that is somewhat historical and has a really pretty cover – Thunder At Dawn by Eric Flint & David Drake. But I barely understand what is going on. Then I was reading a horror novel called A Dark Matter by Peter Straub, and even though it has a very interesting concept – a cult guru performs a ceremony that results in bizarre, gruesome murders…it’s actually pretty boring and mostly about some characters I don’t care about. I checked the reviews on amazon and most ppl thought the book was ¬†a waste of time. Check amazon if you want to see what I’m talking about.

I’m also reading a fantasy sci-fi that is sort of pro-new age, talks about things my mom likes to talk about, but it’s pretty weird at times and hard to follow. It’s well written though, and has a really pretty cover – here’s the picture I like the blue futuristic city:

I’ll probably try it a few more times.

But yesterday on Sunday I was on amazon trying to find a GOOD horror book and I found a couple authors I want to try, and read the first chapter free of books on amazon. One is Jack Kilborn and the book I want is NOT available at the library so I’ll have to request it. The other author is Blake Crouch and the book I wanted IS at the library so I reserved it. I want to read things that grip me and the first chapters did – Endurance by JK and Desert Places by BC.

I was playing my new Wiiware game Fast and finally unlocked the next set of tracks. It’s a beautiful racing game I spent $10 on and hope to get around to writing a review for it on here, since it’s not like people can go to amazon and write a review, you have to buy it from the Wii shopping channel.

I looked at the Worksource job board today and it’s empty, at least my main section. ¬†I’ll probably spend more time searching around tomorrow. I want to make a few entries here in the blog and get some stuff done around the house.

I need to pick up my car today, go to meditation class, and then go to Fred Meyer and be very careful with my spending.

Thursday report

I met most of my goals for today! I did apply for two jobs, although one I thought I was going to apply for changed the qualifications and I didn’t meet them. So I applied for another that I might not completely qualify for, but I met most of them, and it is a good paying job. I spent a good part of the day applying for that job.

I also changed my sheets and did two loads of laundry. Been relaxing since, haven’t cleaned the bathroom sink yet. But there is still time.

When I checked my mail I found out I am eligible for Unemployment benefits! I’ll be getting more than I expected, but it still won’t be as much as some people get. It’s based on my income from 2010. Still, I am very grateful to be getting it, it means I can pay rent AND bills while looking for work. So far I only really had money for rent for several months.

I only played my main FB game this morning, Lucky Train. Then later today I decided to play Gardens of Time till I ran out of energy (hidden object game). I played Lucky Train again. Not going to check in on other games today.

Been playing Rune Factory 3 on the DS. I should quit now and do something more constructive, like read a library book. Will in a few minutes.

I was surprised to hear Katie Couric was quitting CBS Evening News. I happened to watch her last broadcast. I didn’t always like what she had to say (she sounded anti-democrat & anti Obama at times) but I will miss watching a national news with a female anchor. She is going to be replaced by some man.

I really liked something she said on the news tonight, that a man who was supposed to be paralized for life, was able to stand on his own due to new medical technology. I wish Christopher Reeve was still alive to see this and experience it for himself.

I did start some of The Birth Of Venus By Sarah Durant today. Probably will read some more of that, and Rose for a Crown.

Goals for tomorrow

I want to write down some goals for tomorrow and then go through a checklist to see if I achieved them. I have to remember though that energy levels for me will make a difference on whether or not I get all the cleaning done.

  1. Finish applying for two jobs tomorrow
  2. Change bedsheets and do two loads of laundry
  3. Finish cleaning bathroom sink

I’m thinking on Friday I want to make sure to vacuum. I don’t want to put too much cleaning in one day.

I need to finish the letter I started to my penpal and send it in the mail, hopefully tomorrow.

I’m nervous and excited about Supernatural on Friday night. Afraid it will have a devestating ending or give us an awful cliffhanger.

But I’m excited about Misha Collin’s¬† new series, Divine. I saw on Kickstarter they reached their goal of raising $10,000 to fund the show further. I would have donated if¬†I had a job. Anyway, it’s starting this summer. Which brings me to another topic.

I have considered more than once trying to give up entertainment that contains violence for a month. Would have to be after the season finale of Supernatural. But then, I could be missing Divine’s premiere. I’ll still be thinking it over. I’d be changing what shows I watch, video games I can play, and books I can read. I’m reading Stieg Larsson‘s second book right now, The Girl that Played With Fire, and it’s long, and I’d have to give that up, since it’s a thriller and sure to have violence. Well, give it up for a month.

I also want to write more, I keep saying that, but it’s hard for me to write when not in a creative mood, and usually when I am, it’s late, I’m tired, and I can’t write much.

Going to shut the laptop off now. It’s really hot. I might go do some writing on the other comp, but like I said I’m tired. Maybe I should read instead.

In the middle of chores

I want to start updating my blog more. And I want to start making goals again and sticking to them.¬† I was trying to stay away from my new FB game CSI Crime City but I’m letting myself go to it right now. I have been doing a bunch of cleaning and also read some of my library books.

I bought a new vacuum yesterday after work. It’s bright yellow and it has a nice strong motor. My floor is now very clean! Poor J had a bad time putting it together though. I hope it now stays in place. At first when I tried to vacuum it was falling apart.

I swept and mopped the kitchen floor, I started the dishes, wiped all the counters in the kitchen, and obviously vacuumed the living room. I also did two loads of laundry and put most of that away. Still need to finish the dishes and clean off the kitchen table. I want to completely wipe it off, meaning I will have to put the jigsaw puzzle away and then start it over. But I’d actually like to work on the puzzle every now and then, haven’t in a long time because the kitchen table is usually a mess.

Yesterday at work was pretty busy and I felt badly for several of my clients in one day, that doesnt’ happen very often (I usually get to give them good news). We have one more week and a day of work and then we’re done. It will be nice to have a short break. Then I will have to look for work which I never do like.

Books: I am reading too many again!! I need to stop checking so many out. Here’s a list of what I’m reading

  1. Killing Spree by Kevin O’Brien
  2. Birthmarked by Caragh O’Brien¬† (okay I just now realized I am reading two authors named O’Brien LOL)
  3. Master of the Game by Sydney Sheldon
  4. Gideon’s Sword by Preston & Child
  5. The Tower at the End of the World
  6. The Line

And there’s more I haven’t started yet but hope too. Got a Lisa Gardner thriller and a Carlene Thompson thriller lined up. Right now my two new favorite thriller authors are Kevin O’Brien and Carlene Thompson.

I’ve also been reading Dystopia books for young adults, I recently discovered they are very popular these days and have been trying several titles. I read Deliverance recently, and the Knife of Never Letting Go. Birthmarked is one of them, and so is The Line. I love dystopia books and I keep hoping I’ll find one I love as much as This Perfect Day and The Giver.

Goals for today: I want to read more. Get all the cleaning done that I intended. Watch at least one episode of Six Feet Under. Make something nice for dinner, maybe tacos. Not waste time like I usually do. Okay more later.

Hello Winter

Snow Pictures, Images and Photos
Well it snowed a little bit today. Kinda nice. I almost wish it hadn’t stopped, but then I don’t want too much snow.

Yesterday I didn’t get anything done like I thought I might. Just didn’t feel like cleaning. I can’t remember everything leisurely that I did do, but I know I read some of a library book (also went to the library to pick up books), watched Cake Boss, watched some of Legend of the Seeker, read some fics including Supernatural, Psycho, and House, looked up F!S, and played just a little bit of Mario Kart Wii.

Today I’m getting a lot more done. First I wanna mention – family, I know you’re not sending Xmas gifts anyway, but if someone wins the lotto, there is stuff on my amazon wish list I don’t actually want. Any of the artsy stuff – don’t really want it. I just add something each week to enter in the contest amazon is having. Anything that I added from amazon itself, yeah I want it. Now go win the lotto, lol.

Okay, it’s Sunday, and I had the energy to clean. Cleaned up the coffee table, did two loads of laundry and put most of it away, been working on the dishes, want to vacuum sometime today and watch Dexter. I’m playing the free trial of Bigfoot over on the¬†desktop because I only got one free trial on the laptop.

It’s snowing again! Oh yeah and I red some of The Favored Child this morning by Phillipa Gregory. Might read a little more of it or another book today.

A quiet reading Sunday – I hope

I’m on the desktop this morning or actually afternoon (I slept in till really late) because J said he’d need the laptop for homework, well he’s still in bed but I thought I might as well just use the desktop then.

I downloaded all my emails, I only do it now about every two weeks – oh I check my emails every day, but I haven’t downloaded it to the program I have on the desktop as often as I used to. Because once I download it, they are not available at all to me on the internet anymore. Have to look at desktop to see them. And can’t click any links in the email once it’s downloaded. But I do have lots of nice folders I can slip the emails into so I like to download them and organize my emails every now and then.

I’ve been reading some books this morning, A Town in a Blueberry Jam and Roadside Crosses. The blueberry one is still good, but I was disappointed to see that the main character, who is the amateur¬†sleuth, was finding more evidence than the police. It was evidence that the police never should have over looked, so it bugs me.¬† Plus, the guy who is being held in jail for murder, the evidence against him is weak. Really weak.

And then the main character is doing a breaking and entering – I cringe whenever I see this, an amateur sleuth breaking into somewhere, because I think, come on, who actually has no qualms about just breaking into a place? Only criminals in my mind. So it just doesn’t seem realistic that an ordinary citizen would do it.

But still reading, the writing otherwise is descriptive and interesting.

I really should get around to finishing the dishes I started yesterday and doing laundry (ugh) but it needs to be done. Not right now, I’m not going out there in wet hair.

Oh I added some new authors to my Lists! page today. I was really surprised with myself that I hadn’t¬† already listed Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. Well they are up with some other authors¬†I thought of. And like it says on the page, I’m listing them even if I only liked one of their books.

I spent a lot of time writing on different things yesterday. Oh and I wrote to a beta at FP, but am nervous about getting a reply. Just for my sci-fi story, she doesn’t read horror stories.

I’m pretty sure it was yesterday too that I submitted another one of my short, older horrors to FP. I got one review so far that was nice.

I played some Mario Kart Wii yesterday and some Etrian Odyssey too.  Also read some stories on both FP and FFN and left reviews. I was glad to find a story I liked on FP. The guy wrote back to me today thanking me, that was nice.
